Major announcement: Community newspapers are back

Community newspapers will soon make a return to the Moreton Bay Region’s northern and southern districts, after a successful year publishing in the eastern pocket.

Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT) has been publishing a free community newspaper called Dolphins News for residents on the Redcliffe Peninsula, Deception Bay, North Lakes, Mango Hill and Griffin for the past 12 months.

MBRIT Chairman Shane Newcombe says Dolphins News will be rebranded as part of the expansion and all three papers will be known as Moreton Daily News. They will publish fortnightly.

“The name change reflects the papers’ connection with our online community news website, Moreton Daily, which we launched during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to give residents positive and useful community news,” Mr Newcombe says.

“We’ve had awesome feedback from the community, grateful for a platform that is not full of ‘doom and gloom’ news and one that actively brings people together.

“Our community newspapers have the same philosophy – delivering the good news you’ve been waiting for to your home.

“We will deliver 150,000 copies of Moreton Daily News to households in the north, south and eastern pockets each fortnight.”
