The results of FIAL’s National Food Waste Strategy Feasibility Study are in and yes, it is feasible to halve Australia’s food waste by 2030, but it will require unprecedented action by governments, industry and the community.

In this special FAN Insights and Innovation Seminar, we explore is it feasible to halve Australia’s food waste by 2030? What are the global challenges and what can be done at a local level to reach this target.

Mark will share global insights and local innovations and strategies aimed at tackling this important and growing issue.

Mark will be joined by a panel of local and state based special guests.

Our panel will showcase local and state based innovations and guests will have the opportunity to network with other key stakeholders involved in this topic.

About Mark

Mark is the inaugural Chief Operating Officer at Stop Food Waste Australia, a new public/private partnership involving federal, state and local governments, the food industry and the food rescue sector, and set-up to lead the delivery of Australia’s target to halve food waste by 2030. He has a successful 25-year track record of driving sustainable innovation and circular thinking in food and agri-businesses, and has worked with the senior teams of some of the largest food and grocery businesses in the world, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, M&S, Cooperative Food, Walmart, Woolworths, Goodman Fielder, Lion, Nestle and Danone.

Mark has been directly involved in developing the international evidence base for food loss and waste, with over 17 years’ experience of quantifying and preventing food loss and waste in the UK, Europe, North and South America, Africa and Australia (including the recently published National Food Waste Strategy Feasibility Study). He has also helped establish world-leading voluntary agreements and campaigns to reduce food waste and food insecurity, drive product and packaging innovation, and improve food system resilience and sustainability. This includes the world renowned UK Courtauld Commitment, and the award-winning Love Food Hate Waste campaign, which is being used in a growing number of countries, including four Australian States.
