Recruiting Now For Pre-Vocational Electrical Program 

Are you interested in a career as an Electrician or Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic? The Electrotechnology Career Start Program will provide learners with the basic knowledge, skills and industry experience to prepare for an electrical or refrigeration & air-conditioning apprenticeship. 

The program is particularly suitable for young people under 21, including women and people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Candidates mus demonstrate a genuine interest in the electrical trades and strong aptitude for the vocation, and have high levels of language, literacy and numeracy knowledge prior to undertaking this program. 

Training Delivery 

The Electrotechnology Career Start program will be delivered over 10 weeks from ATQ's Banyo campus and include two weeks of vocational placement with an industry employer. The training will be a combination of theoretical and practical activities assisted by ESQ industry mentors and ATQ learning support staff. Participants will receive all training materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The course will run from 30 September to 6 December 2019.

Learner Support

ESQ will support participants to complete the accredited training and achieve employment success through a flexible program of targeted learner support and job readiness activities. ESQ will work with participants to develop up-to-date resumes and competitive job applications, as well as providing connections to employers in the electrotechnology industry. 

How To Apply 

The Electrotechnology Career Start program particularly targets young people under 21 with an interest in, and demonstrable aptitude for, the electrical trades.
