$30k prize for innovation in tourism up for grabs

Businesses are invited to enter the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) Prize for Innovation in Tourism, with a $30,000 support package up for grabs for the winner.

The QTIC Prize for Innovation in Tourism recognises micro and small to medium businesses in Queensland that have introduced an innovative product, service or process.

These include:

  • a new or enhanced product or service;
  • a new or enhanced operational process; or
  • a new or enhanced organisational/managerial process.

Thanks to the support of the Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games, the winner will receive a prize package to the value of $30,000.

As part of the prize package the winner will also receive $3,000 worth of travel for flights and accommodation to a destination of their choice (domestic or international) to undertake business familiarisation to support the implementation of their action plan.

The runner up will receive Build a Better Business Workshop and Mentoring at the value of $400, courtesy of Small Business Solutions TAFE Queensland.

Nominations are now open online at QTIC, and will be accepted until Friday, 11 August.

The winner and runner-up announcement will take place on 27 September at the Prize for Innovation Breakfast and World Tourism Day Celebrations.
