The 2019 Gala Awards are just around the corner and what better time than now to take a closer look at this years Business Excellence finalists!

MBRIT VISITOR EXPERIENCE 

 

The Visitor Experience Award recognises a tourism or hospitality business operating in the Moreton Bay Region that can demonstrate their commitment to consistently delivering an exceptional visitor experience over the past 12 months, which allows them to stand out from their competitors and enhances the appeal of the Moreton Bay Region.

A visitor experience is something of an immersive nature. Business who can successfully execute a visitor experience will have visitors returning time and time again.

Club Pine Rivers

The team at Club Pine Rivers is constantly working on ways to increase visitor numbers to the Moreton Bay Region and improve customers and visitors experiences. The main visitor attraction hosted at the club is the Bowls Premier League which has been hosted at the club for the past 7 years. It is a massive tournament with over $100,000 in prize money up for grabs for the world class bowlers who attend. Broadcast live on Fox Sports to over 200,000 people and with thousands of people flocking to the venue from all over Australia, it really is a great tourism event to be hosted by a local club.

 

G'day Adventure Tours

G’day Adventure Tours is a fully guided tour company that operates throughout SEQ (South East Queensland). Our passion is to show the vast beauty of SEQ to the countless tourists that flock here each and every year. G’day Adventure Tours provides a fun, friendly and relaxing day out and whose main aim is to provide 100% customer satisfaction and a true blue Aussie experience worth remembering!

 

Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology

Run by the Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology, The Abbey Medieval Festival is an all-ages family festival and tournament encouraging the education and inspiration of visitors through an immersive experience of the Middle Ages.

The festival draws international acclaim for its authentic and unique appeal, and is the largest living history event in the Southern Hemisphere!

2019 marked the festival’s 30th year, and it is the crown jewel of fundraising events for the Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology.

 

Brisbane Whale Watching

In late 2018, Sandstone Point Hotel opened its $18 million expansion, BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort. Featuring modern coast-inspired villas, glamping tents as well as camp and caravan sites and a range of world class facilities.

 

AKYRA EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

The Employee of the Year Award recognises an individual for their extraordinary professional achievement and contribution to their organisation.

All nominations were submitted by an employer or colleague of the nominee who wanted to recognise and celebrate an outstanding employee.

It can be hard to determine what constitutes an outstanding employee but the below finalists sum this achievement up extraordinarily well.

Tanya Ricketts - Sesame Lane & Kindergarten 

Tanya Ricketts is the Marketing Coordinator at Sesame Lane. She has been with the company for four and half years and during that time she has become an invaluable part of not just the marketing team but the whole organisation. Anyone who knows Tanya will know how contagious her positivity and can-do attitude is and why she has the nickname “Little Ray of Sunshine”.

 

Melissa Redsell - A Brave Life

Melissa is the founding director of a not-for-profit organisation called A Brave Life & is extremely passionate about encouraging and empowering young women to dream big and to "Live Life Brave". Using her own life story and experiences, Melissa wanted to make a difference for teenage & young mothers in her community by encouraging them to finish high school, pursue their dreams and to "LIVE LIFE BRAVE". Melissa is the mother to 3 children aged 24, 18 & 14 and in between running A Brave Life, Melissa works as a Registered Nurse and Midwife.

 

Lucinda Wheatcroft-Bailey - Northshore Pet 

Lucy has been an Animal Attendant with Northshore Pet Resort for the last 6 years, where she has made it her mission to go above and beyond for the animals under her care. With a wide range of knowledge across the animal industry, she has proven to be a reliable, caring, passionate professional in her chosen field. She has been named many times personally in customer reviews for her dedication in ensuring that families feel at ease leaving their pets in her care, giving them the peace of mind they deserve.

 

Daniel Nixon - Trident RFID

Daniel Nixon oversees daily operations at Trident RFID, an innovative company operating in the sports timing industry. Trident exists to provide enhanced sports timing RFID technology to event timers for easy and effortless timing around the world.

Since his employment in 2018, Daniel Nixon has shown exceptional business acumen by improving, refining and expanding key facets of the company, such as financials, manufacturing, support, and sales. In return for his efforts with the rest of the team, Trident RFID has experienced a 50% increase in revenue over the last 12 months.

 

Trent Arieni - Solar Bollard Lighting

Trent Arieni is a 23-year-old Production, Purchasing and Logistics Manager with a positive ‘can do’ attitude who has worked exceptionally hard overcoming many challenges being 60% hearing impaired from birth. This affected Trent’s ability at school to learn at the pace of his classmates and the brunt of schoolyard bullying at times. Because of Trent’s past experiences of low self-esteem, Trent takes pride in being the complete opposite of what he had to endure and puts his heart and soul into developing an excellent team environment and building exceptional customer and supplier relationships, so all feel appreciated.


 

BISHOPP OUTDOOR ADVERTISING BUILDING A STRONGER COMMUNITY

 

The Building a Stronger Community Award recognises an organisation (profit or not-for-profit) in the Moreton Bay Region that has delivered strong, community-based initiative(s) within the past 12 months that positively impacts on, and delivers long-term benefits for the community.

Community is a strong concept, but being able to successfully build upon this concept is something people aspire to and these finalists have accomplished.

CUA North Lakes Community Hub

CUA is Australia’s largest & oldest credit union. The CUA North Lakes Community Hub is CUA’s innovative way of supporting the Moreton Bay Community. The hub offers a free event space & private meeting room that is available during & after business hours. Since opening, a diverse range of events have been held by the community. Over 160 events have been hosted, with 51,387 people coming through the doors. The Community Hub is aimed at building lasting and meaningful relationships in the community via this unique concept of a space where banking and community meet.


Caboolture RSL

Caboolture RSL is a non-for profit community Club that has been operating from its current location since the 1950’s. Caboolture RSL operates to enable the operation of the Caboolture & Morayfield Districts Sub Branch and veterans affairs. One of Queenslands 240 Sub Branch offices, our Sub Branch offers advice, support and camaraderie to all current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families. The Caboolture Sub Branch has a long history of unwavering contributions to worthy objectives within the broader community. Over the years this Sub Branch has supported local sporting groups and clubs, provided educational institutions with grants and scholarships, assisted Emergency services with equipment and funding and has been integral to kindred organisations such as Legacy.

 

MatchWorks

MatchWorks is one of Australia’s largest providers of jobactive and Disability Employment Services. Last year, MatchWorks helped around 15,000 businesses source talent and assisted more than 30,000 Australians into work. MatchWorks believes everyone deserves the opportunity to work. A Brave Life

A Brave Life is a registered not-for-profit organisation aims to help alleviate the risks of ongoing poverty, misfortune and helplessness experienced by many young and teenage mothers by assisting them to complete their education, pursue their dreams and to LIVE LIFE BRAVE.

A Brave Life focuses on two main areas:

  • Walking alongside & encourage teenage mothers through our LIVE LIFE BRAVE Mentoring Program as they complete their education.
  • Providing essential baby items to teenage & young mothers through our Baby Bundle Program.

    Deception Bay Community Youth Program

    Deception Bay Community Youth Programs Assn Inc (DBCYP) is a not-for-profit community organisation that provides whole of life support for adults, young people and children in Deception Bay.

    In recent years DBCPY have created their own employability program called Local Pathways to Work that has been very successful in attracting State Government SQW funding.

    DBCYP’s Local Pathways to Work (LPW) program fills a large gap in employability service provision in Deception Bay by addressing the increasing demand for services for individuals experiencing barriers to work. It delivers a service unique in our region, fundamentally different from statutory and mainstream employability programs, in that it provides a comprehensive, intensive and holistic approach to supporting those who are living with chronic deprivation towards employment, and the chance at life improvement work brings.

     

    AUSTRALIAN COASTAL AND MARINE ECOLOGY ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY EXCELLENCE 

    The Environment and Sustainability Award recognises a business or organisation in the Moreton Bay Region that have made a strong commitment to sustainable practices and environment improvement as part of their day to day business operations within the past 12 months.
     
    Sustainability strives to improve the environmental health and quality of life. Sustainability and environmental quality are important in order to have healthy communities.

    Flock Eatery is a farm to plate style cafe on the Redcliffe waterfront that serves and promotes locally grown seasonal produce as well as specialty coffee. We focus on establishing direct trade relationships with our farmers so that we know they are always paid fairly. We are passionate about feeding our customers incredible food that is good for the environment and themselves.

     

    Stanley Asphalt

    Stanley Asphalt has developed an advanced construction and demolition waste recycling technology which delivers significant environmental improvements to current industry practice. This project provides technology to crush, screen and wash demolition and construction waste creating recycled aggregates of various sizes for reuse in road construction along with other building and construction uses. The development of the resource recovery and recycling project provides the latest innovation to Queensland’s waste management industry, a significant reduction of waste stockpiles at landfills, recycling in commercial practice, job development opportunities and substantial environmental benefits in reduced natural resource extract, waste reduction and energy consumption.

     

    Eckersley Print Group

    Deception Bay Community Youth Program

    Deception Bay Community Youth Programs Assn Inc (DBCYP) is a not-for-profit community organisation that provides whole of life support for adults, young people and children in Deception Bay. As a community based organisation with a 24 year continuous service history, we have a rich connection to the Deception Bay community and a strong locality focus on improving social outcomes for this area.

    DBCYP provide one-on-one support and collective responses through a variety of creative, educational and recreational programs. Holding a key place in this suite of services is our Local Pathways to Work Employability Program. This evidenced based program, based on locality specific, tailored and modular approaches to employability progression, provides a solid route way to sustainable work options for those experiencing significant barriers to employment.

     

    RDA MORETON BAY EXPORTING EXCELLENCE

     

    The Exporting Excellence award recognises a business in the Moreton Bay Region that has exemplified excellence in exporting, in any industry or sector outside the Moreton Bay Region, over the past 12 months.

    Exporting is a massive contributor to our regions economy and the below finalists have successfully grown their business to be able to export internationally whilst continuously growing their companies.

    The Marketing Excellence Awards recognise a business or organisation in Moreton Bay Region that has demonstrated creativity and innovation in a fully integrated marketing campaign, or marketing initiative, within the past 12 months. This award has been split into a marketing initiative with a total marketing budget of under $20,000 and over $20,000.

    QUEST COMMUNITY NEWS MARKETING EXCELLENCE (OVER 20K)

     

    Prevent Dental Suites

    Prevent Dental Suites provides dental health care to patients all over the Moreton Bay Region and beyond including patients from interstate. With a new marketing strategy in place, they have seen an increase in client bookings and customer relations. This marketing strategy includes the use of google search engine, Facebook, blogs and podcasts to further educate patients on oral health care as well as developing strong relationships with local kindergartens and school where regular visits are made to educate the children about the importance of good oral hygiene. We also engage with government entities allowing us to care for patients who are eligible under certain schemes. We have collated data from our online resources, turning it over into new clients.

     

    Warner Lakes Dental

    Warner Lakes Dental has gone beyond their previous word of mouth and flyer letter box drops marketing strategy to connecting with potential patients via a range of online resources.

    Results pulled from a Facebook marketing campaign assisted in identifying the surgery's target market thus allowing for easy identification of surrounding suburbs from where the majority of the surgery patients reside.

    Measuring and tracking the patient referral sources also provided more clarity on which marketing technique provided the maximum return on investment. They have identified this as Google adwords. This in conjunction with a strong social media presence and advertisement, educational visits to local schools and a successful referral program, just to name a few, have allowed Warner Lakes Dental to increase client bookings.

     

    Sesame Lane Care and Kindergarten - Show Day

    Sesame Lane Show Day is a free event for families to enjoy a day of rides, entertainment, activities, prizes and food trucks. The event has been running for 14 years and started with just a few rides and now features main stage with entertainment along with numerous rides. There is no other event in the Moreton Bay Region that offers a free day out for families.

    Mon Komo Hotel is a fun escape from reality in one of the world’s premier coastal destinations. The vision of the Hotel is that we will consistently offer the best social experience in the most progressive venue in the Moreton Bay Region by 2020 and the management team at Mon Komo Hotel are continually applying an in-depth marketing strategy to ensure the vision is achieved. 2019 has seen some amazing marketing campaigns that saw one lucky person win an $8000 Caribbean cruise holiday and a complete brand overhaul. All of this is helping us achieve our vision in 2020 and our finalist position in the Moreton Bay Region Business Excellence & innovation awards.
