Hills & Districts Chamber of Commerce celebrates 25 years

Posted 16 August 2017

The Hills & Districts Chamber of Commerce has celebrated 25 years - growing from humble beginnings in an Everton Park coffee shop in 1992 to boasting the 110-strong membership it has today.

More than 70 people attended the event, and life memberships were awarded to Brian Battersby and Max Matthews who were rewarded for their dedication and commitment to the region through commerce and industry since that time.

The Hills & Districts founding President Valmai Ryman addressed the party, speaking of her pride in the Chamber and reminiscing about the organisation’s initial meetings under very different circumstances in comparison to today.

Brian Battersby surprised the gathering with a very special recitation of a 25th Anniversary poem co-written by himself and Noel Stallard.

The consensus was that the Chamber would not be what it is today without the contributions by so many dedicated business people and so much community support.
