Fun runs to festivals: SRJ Walker Wayland on maximising its message

Posted 18 December 2018

With offices in Brendale, Caboolture, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, 2018 marked yet another busy year for SRJ Walker Wayland Accountants and Advisors (SRJWW).

Aside from its core business offering across accounting, audit, taxation, and business advice, SRJWW has been heavily involved in a number of community events.

From fun runs and festivals to family days and business luncheons, the team at SRJWW brought its enthusiasm, not to mention some out-of-the-box marketing ideas, to build its brand, increase community engagement, and reach even more audiences.

On a business-to-community level, SRJWW continued its involvement in the (often sold-out) Business Moreton Bay Region Conference Series.

Featuring four instalments each year, this event pulls major international speakers including former Australian Prime Minister The Hon. Julia Gillard AC, Shark Tank Australia’s Steve Baxter, leading demographer Bernard Salt, and cricket superstar Michael Clarke.

SRJWW offered practical tips and hands-on advice in its professional development workshops as part of the series, with topics such as ‘Back to Basics’ and ‘Growth: Planning, Funding and Other Challenges’, 'Profit Improvement for Businesses', and 'GPS: Locate your Key Business Issue'.

Demonstrating its commitment to Growing Business and Growing People in the community, the firm aligned itself with the 2018 Moreton Bay Region Business Excellence & Innovation Awards, sponsoring the ‘Community Group of the Year’ and ‘Building a Stronger Community’ categories.

Get sporty

With many of its staff keen runners and joggers, the annual Jetty2Jetty Fun Run was an obvious choice for SRJWW.

Synonymous with sunshine and an active lifestyle, Jetty2Jetty attracts thousands of sporting enthusiasts (of all ages and ability) year after year.

In addition to it’s amazing atmosphere, with a course spanning the picturesque Redcliffe foreshore, Jettty2Jetty offers the opportunity to mix business with pleasure.

This enabled SRJWW to capture a broad market in a fun and sociable environment.

Fun run, anyone?

Family in the community

SRJWW likes to think outside the square when it comes to sponsorship and activations at local events, as getting out in the community and giving back to the region is a very important value in the SRJWW culture.

Its ring-toss game, which proved popular at Hills Carnivale and Caboolture Family Fun Day, got a festive makeover for the North Lakes Christmas Carols with its fun ‘candy cane’ look.

According to SRJWW, when it comes to sponsorship, it’s not about ‘selling’, it's about finding out what is going on within the region and creating awareness by letting the community know they are ‘here to help’.
