A local property group, law firm, children’s clothing store, dental surgery, frozen berries exporter, hair salon and school groups are among the finalists vying for honours as part of the 2017 Moreton Bay Region Business Excellence & Innovation Awards.
More than 100 entries were received across 12 categories for the inaugural awards, delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) together with Moreton Bay Regional Council and award category sponsors.
Announcing the finalists today, MBRIT CEO Shane Newcombe has congratulated all the finalists and nominees on their achievements.
“Since opening to nominations earlier this year, we have been very impressed by the high standard of entries which have come in from across the Moreton Bay Region,” Mr Newcombe said.
“This is the first year MBRIT has held the Moreton Bay Region Business Excellence & Innovation Awards, and we are honoured to be recognising the rising stars of the business, and academic, community,” he said.
“It is exciting to see so many businesses excelling in their particular field – from automotive, retail and health to real estate, legal and more. I want to offer my congratulations to all nominees and finalists, and look forward to the awards presentation event.”
Finalists, nominees and members of the public are now invited to attend the awards presentation luncheon, where winners will be crowned on Friday, 17 November, 2017 at Eatons Hill Hotel, Eatons Hill.
Winners of the award categories will receive $500 cash, in addition to business recognition, while overall Moreton Bay Regional Council Business of the Year and SRJ Walker Wayland Community Group of the Year will each take home $1,000.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland congratulated the region’s thriving local business community for getting behind the new Business Excellence & Innovation Awards.
“Council is proud to be joining our industry partners MBRIT to deliver this spectacular gala awards event that will recognise the outstanding achievements of our region’s local business, industry and innovators,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“Over 100 applications were received this year which is an incredible result and demonstrates the absolute strength of our region’s economy which has been rated as the fastest growing economy in Queensland,” he said.
“This year’s awards ceremony has it all and I know our judges will have an extremely difficult task in picking a winner across the many categories.
“It gives me great confidence in our region’s growing economy to know that local businesses and individuals are continually coming up with innovative ideas to shift the paradigm in our region’s favour and change the way we live and work.”
The presentation luncheon, hosted by popular TV personalities Kay McGrath and Bill McDonald, includes a two-course meal and entertainment, and will be held as part of the Business Moreton Bay Region Conference Series event.
