Building the innovation community through ARIP

Business

Posted 17 December 2018

Innovate Moreton Bay attended the second annual Advancing Regional Innovation Program (ARIP) conference in Townsville from November 27-28.

The two-day conference drew representatives from lead organisations and nominated partners from across the State’s 12 designated ARIP regions.

Also in attendance was Samford Commons, a partner of Innovate Moreton Bay under the government-funded initiative.

Key themes

According to ARIP and Advance Queensland, key themes which emerged from the conference included:

  • The notion of ‘Give First’ – it’s all about asking how you can assist a person develop their business skills, idea, or connect them with the right person who can aid them on their way to success
  • Collaboration vs competition – ARIP is about building the innovation community and opportunities
  • Language – the language surrounding innovation must resonate with the audience
  • Investment – investing in activities and programs targeting youth and disadvantaged sections of the community allows for future growth
  • Exposure – tapping into industry, business and the not-for-profit sector provides exposure to a multitude of opportunities
  • Connections and relationships – these are critical to building momentum for the use and uptake of new skills across regions.

The year may be coming to a close, but ARIP is moving full-steam ahead into the second year of regional ARIP projects.

Stay tuned to see how regional communities will become more involved, learn new skills, and make connections to assist them on their innovation journey.
