Bookings open for Sandstone Point’s new holiday hot spot

Posted 24 July 2018

Bookings are now open for the much-anticipated BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort, with the first wave of guests welcomed from November this year.

The newly-appointed General Manager of BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort, Adam Metcalfe, has been working tirelessly at getting bookings online.

Most recently working as a Building Manager in Brisbane, with previous experience working at Oaks Hotels & Resorts in Mackay and BIG4 Wye River on the Great Ocean Road, Adam is excited to get back to nature working with a similar model of accommodation to that of Wye River.

“I have been lucky enough to work in some stunning places, but Bribie Island is closest to my heart, which is why when I saw the opportunity to open up a brand-new resort right across the bridge, I couldn’t say no,” Mr Metcalfe said.

“In 1970, my granddad built a house on Bribie. Visiting him and his island home was a highlight of my childhood. It’s been great to see the development of the area and I’m proud to be a part of, what I think is, the most exciting yet.

“I don’t doubt the resort will be very popular, with a unique offering that I haven’t yet seen in my career.”

After high demand for more accommodation in the area brought on by Sandstone Point Hotel’s concerts and events, the award-winning Comiskey Group decided to start construction on their very own holiday resort.

“We have never opened a resort before, but have certainly done our research staying in some of Australia’s best resorts and gathering insights from helpful park owners,” owner Robert Comiskey said.

“We aim to take BIG4 to the next level, offering exciting family friendly facilities with a touch of luxury,” he said.

A luxury getaway for locals and holiday makers

Opening Eatons Hill Hotel’s 4.5 star accommodation in October 2017, the Comiskey Group has not slowed down since.

Taking their learnings from previous projects, the team will be integrating the feel of luxury and elegance throughout BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort.

“We plan to cater to couples wanting a relaxing weekend away as well as the family market. We are introducing luxury safari tents and luxury villas, specifically designed for couples,” Mr Comiskey said.

“Our luxury villa features a king bed on a four-post platform looking out to water views and a private alfresco dining area for intimate meals. The villa also has a luxurious ensuite which includes double sinks, a large bath and shower,” he said.

BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort is now taking bookings for the start of November, but aims to be open earlier.

Its coast-inspired, stylish accommodation options include; luxury villas, three-bedroom villas, two-bedroom deluxe villas, two-bedroom villas, studio villas, family & luxury safari tents as well as powered and unpowered sites.

Complementing the array of accommodation are world class facilities such as a 500sqm pool, jumping pillow, tennis court, kids water park, games room, playground, bar, cinema and café as well as more to be announced.
