Applications now open for Generate Festival

Posted 18 July 2017

Applications are now open to local artists, buskers and creative performers to help activate Caboolture’s laneways and CBD areas as part of the Moreton Bay Region’s newest creative arts festival - Generate Festival.

Generate Festival is a new and exciting two day festival run by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism and proudly supported by Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Councillor for Division Three, Adam Hain said the festival would activate Caboolture’s town square and CBD areas with acoustic artists, buskers, music and dance performances, lighting installations, artistic displays and a showcase of the latest street art designs.

“Festival organisers are putting the call out now to musicians, dancers, visual artists and lots more from right across Caboolture and our region to register their interest to share their music, creative works, handmade creations, paintings, busking, singing and dance performances - across a jammed pack two day festival program,” Cr Hain said.

“This is your chance to get in now and be part of a festival program that will breathe new life into our CBD with catchy music, delicious food trucks, funky drink vendors, and plenty of atmosphere.

“Local artists have an incredible opportunity to showcase their creativity to thousands of festival goers and help to bring a slice of that ‘Eat Street’ market vibe to Caboolture.

The festival will feature six key precincts for which artists can register, including:

The Generate Gallery

The Gallery will be an immersive and exciting display of local contemporary art. This opportunity is open to various creative works, including, but not limited to: paintings, photography, woodwork, metal work, glass painting, mosaics, pottery, sculptures, wearable art and other formats of art. Multiple submissions are accepted and encouraged.

Generate Cube Murals

There will be the opportunity for individuals / groups to paint a mural/s on the sides of large ply cubes (provided) which will be erected in town square as part of a temporary public art project. Murals will be painted ‘live’ onsite during the running of the event and there may be opportunities for public participation.

Generate Large-Scale Sculptural Pieces

Caboolture Town Square will come alive with large temporary sculptural pieces, which will form part of the Generate Arts Trail, a contemporary installation featuring large pieces made from various materials, including found and repurposed items. These installations will ideally be sized at a minimum of 1.5m x 1.5m and will need to be structurally sound.

Main Stage

This opportunity is open to any performer, artist, musician, busker, dance or performance-based act that is of a highly creative nature. It also includes artistic works such as short films or animation, and wearable art.

This opportunity is open to creative workers who wish to run creative workshops over the festival period.

Art Fair Stall

This opportunity is open to those wishing to run a stall featuring and/or selling their creative works (must be hand-crafted/hand-made/designed or created by the stall owner).
