Innovate Moreton Bay Nurtures Hub of Innovation and Enterprise

From game developers and marine scientists to university representatives and coffee connoisseurs, Innovate Moreton Bay pulled an impressive crowd at its latest monthly social catch-up.

Since its establishment in 2017, interest in Innovate Moreton Bay has continued to gain momentum across the region through its associated workshops, events and collaborative opportunities.

Regional Innovation Coordinator for Advance Queensland’s Advancing Regional Innovation Program (ARIP), Steve Butler, says this growing interest was supported by the nearly 40 people who came along to February’s meet and greet.

“Those in attendance consisted of regional entrepreneurs, marine scientists, game developers, doctors and professors from USC, and lawyers, just to name a few,” Mr Butler said.

“The meaningful connections and collaborative outcomes created is what this event is designed for, along with the opportunity for like-minded individuals to come together in a social capacity.”

Want to get in on the action? The Innovate Moreton Bay Social Catch-Ups are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 3.00pm at North Lakes Sports Club. They are free to attend and family-friendly.

Full steam ahead

Innovate Moreton Bay is moving full steam ahead into its second year of ARIP projects as part of the Advance Queensland initiative, which has an overall goal to transform regions into hubs for innovation and enterprise.

In addition to generating positive outcomes through its monthly catch-ups, Innovate Moreton Bay is currently recruiting for QODE, a brand-new innovation and technology event coming to Brisbane this April.

Last year, Innovate Moreton Bay led a delegation to tech event Myriad, helping to showcase local products in an expo environment and raise the region’s profile in the innovation space.

More about ARIP

ARIP encourages innovation across Queensland and supports local economies to create jobs for regional Queenslanders.

For Innovate Moreton Bay, this is achieved by collaborating with existing groups such as Regional Development Australia (RDA) Moreton Bay, delivering a leading series of workshops including the Business Moreton Bay Region Conference Series in partnership with Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT), and representing the region at landmark events (such as QODE).

Other key partners include the combined Chambers of Commerce – North Lakes, Samford Commons, SRJ Walker Wayland, USC and Grace Lutheran College.
