How to enter

Business Excellence and Innovation Awards

The 2017 Awards program has now finished. Stay tuned for details on the 2018 Moreton Bay Region Business Excellence & Innovation Awards.


  1. You are encouraged to enter the category/s that best reflects your business success.
  2. Entrants must be based or operate in the Moreton Bay Region (see precinct map).
  3. An entry cannot be moved into another category following the closing date for lodgement of submissions.
  4. If at any time following submission of an entry the business being put forward goes into administration, voluntary receivership, liquidation or bankruptcy, the entrant is required to advise the MBRIT Relationship Manager and accepts that the submission will no longer be eligible for an award.
  5. All finalists will be required provide proof of trading solvent. This will be reviewed by our appointed accountant to ensure finalists are financially stable. All financial information will be kept strictly confidential.
  6. If a not-for-profit organisation then you must be registered as a company, as an incorporated association, or be constituted by a trust endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a charity and have an Australian Business Number.
  7. By entering the awards you authorise the use and/or reproduction of images in relation to any editorial/advertising purposes initiated in conjunction with the awards.
  8. By entering the awards you acknowledge that under no circumstance will judges and MBRIT be held responsible for any comment, viewpoint or expression, whether expressed or implied, concerning the standard or quality of an entrant’s submission. By entering you agree not to bring a claim against any judge, MBRIT and sponsor in relation to feedback on your submission.
  9. If entering the Successful Start-Up Category, we agree to be contacted by the sponsor to be profiled for marketing purposes
  10. Finalists will be selected and announced for each of the Categories 1 - 12 and will be notified by telephone
  11. There will be one winner selected from each of these categories and the Judges award for Community Group of the Year and Business of the Year and announced at the Awards Ceremony to be held on 17 November 2017.

Judges’ Decision

All submissions are independently scored by members of the judging panel. An agreement on the winner will be decided by the judging panel.

A minimum percentage/ score must be achieved for a winner to be announced in a category.

A single entrant category does not guarantee the entrant as a winning entry.

Selection Process

Step 1

Information will be collated into categories and disseminated to judges for review and assessment following the closing date 31 August, 2017.

Step 2

Judges will determine, based on assessment scores, the five finalists for each of the 11 categories identified.

Step 3

A member of the MBRIT team will be in contact with each of the five category finalists in late-October, to organise a site visit and interview. This interview will include up to ten questions, which will be provided to the finalist at least 48 hours prior to the site visit.

Step 4

The finalists will be announced in October 2017.

Step 5

The winner of the Business of the Year Award will be selected from the pool of submissions.

Step 6

All Category Award winners will be announced on 17 November, 2017.
